The background sounds of a given space. In nature, this may include things like birdsong, wind, running water, and insect sounds. In built spaces, ambient sound might include the movement and chatter of people, the sounds of human activity (typing, shuffling papers, clearing dishes, etc.), the sounds of machines (printers, HVAC systems, etc.), and sounds coming in from outside. (see also Ambient Noise)
