The process of blocking, muffling, deflecting, or otherwise decreasing unwanted sounds (noise). In the context of Environmental Sound Design, architects may employ various Noise Dampening techniques, such as acoustic ceiling tiles and sound-absorbing wall panels, to help make interior spaces more comfortable and supportive of the activities for which they are intended.
