Healing Music

Healing Music: Music used in a therapeutic context to affect specific health outcomes, such as lower heart and breathing rates, improved cognition, decreased need for pain medications, improved mood, increased motivation, etc. While spas and massage therapists often rely on what may be termed “New Age” music to help clients relax, music therapists actually draw on a wide range of musical styles to help their patients. Additionally, music making (in whatever style) is a key tool that music therapists use to help patients connect with their innate—and healing—rhythmic faculties.
